I'm a grizzled old sound grunt who LOVES music.... I love writing, recording, producing.... but... once in while.... I JUST NEED TO ESCAPE FROM ALL THE NOISE!!!!!! So I took my digital gear out into the boonies and recorded the world at dawn in the summer of 2000 in a wilderness area just north of Lake Tahoe (the Nevada side, near Spooner Lake - one of my favorite places on earth) and.... My first release, 'Tahoe Streams' is a simple recording of a tranquil stream - just pure sounds of nature. The recording starts in the dark before dawn, and as the morning progresses, you can hear the forest wake up. The energy changes completely before the hour-long recording has finished playing. I find it absolutely refreshing! Interesting side note: I have been recording nature for decades, and there is a DISTINCT difference in the 'energy' before and after the '911' attacks. Before, there was just peace - SINCE, there seems to be a 'nervousness' - even in nature - that is palpable. Not enough tranquility in the world. And without solitude, you can't process what you've learned. Some 'down time' is essential to your being. And nature recordings allow you to re-create solitude at home. But it seems there is a shortage of full-length PURE nature recordings without some kind of yuppie elevator music mixed in. No offense to those who have produced such recordings, as I have PLENTY of them in my collection.... but I just wanted the 'real thing' as a relaxation tool at home.... and I liked the effect so much that I decided to share it with you! Enjoy! =kevin=.
