Long Way Back
I hope you enjoy this collection of original acoustic songs written in and inspired by the great Northwest. The Latin style songs resulted from one of my first steady gigs, which was at a Mexican restaurant. The owners enjoyed my playing but my repertoire was lacking in this area, so they provided tapes of Mexican folk music from which I emulated and developed that style of playing. Other songs and styles came from my love of rock, blues, funk and jazz and the many great players I have listened to over the years. The idea was to combine these various components into a hopefully unique and listenable style to soothe the soul and enhance life's simpler moments. Some of the softer tunes reflect my many wonderful trips backpacking and climbing around this area, this being my other passion. When asked to describe which famous artists this sounds like, I was unable to think of any single one, since it was my purpose to combine my many experiences with a playing style inspired by a diverse group of artists I continue to learn from. So join me and together, we'll take the Long Way Back through an acoustic adventure and the feel-good spirit within. Kevin Tracey Kevin has been teaching and performing in the Northwest since 1980. He is mostly self- taught and is a respected local player on both the electric and acoustic guitars. Currently, he performs regularly at a local restaurant and with area bands and enjoys teaching many new up and coming players. Of course, he still finds time to hike the many scenic wilderness trails in between sessions!
