Beating the Morning Rush
Kind Of Blue In 1996 KIND OF BLUE played their first concert for 600 people near Hamburg, Germany. During this first show it became obvious what makes the difference between other bands and KIND OF BLUE. While most of the bands relied on their loudness and expressive behaviour, KIND OF BLUE got it more simple: they only put together an emotional intensive voice and very melodic pop songs which sounded like feeling home while listening. After about 100 concerts within the first two years KIND OF BLUE shortly became well-known and made their way straight into Germany's most important talent competition: the John Lennon Talent Award. And again it was the basic idea of KIND OF BLUE which let them receive appreciation and a special award for... yes... just for being themselves. Only a few weeks after this great event KIND OF BLUE signed a contract with eastwest records and started to record their first album. During this work the record company offered the band to take part in the national competition of the Eurovision Song Contest convinced of having found "the song" for this special event. The Band agreed. In February 2000 KIND OF BLUE for the first time appeared on Germany's first TV broadcasting station "Das Erste" and after a fantastic performance of their song "Bitter Blue" 7 million people voted the newcomer-band on position number three, right behind a very famous German entertainer and singer. After this great success KIND OF BLUE did a lot of TV show appearances and played summer-festivals supporting Status Quo and Fury In The Slaughterhouse. In autumn 2000 the first album "In Sight" and the second single "The Same" (which came into the airplay-charts quickly) were released. In the following months the band kept on working and collecting material for the second album and also played lots of festivals in co-operation with one of the biggest radio stations in Germany - NDR2. Though everything was a great success for the band, Katrin, the singer, decided to give up music to step back into private life. This, of course, was a huge cut in the band's history but as we see it now all lead into the right direction: In the beginning of 2003 Lidia Kopania joined KIND OF BLUE and completed the music with her extraordinary voice and emotional intensity. Now there's one more thing which makes the band outstanding: the fact that the members are coming from different countries is a vivid proof for the sentence 'music has no borders'. With their new album 'Beating The Morning Rush' the band is still following their path of being different. Ok - maybe they use more electric guitars and the drums are louder compared to the first days, but still they have songs... and that's what it's all about.
