Tribute to J & K
Ron Kischuk and Ed Gooch are Detroit's busiest and most well received trombonists. Ron is a Yamaha clinician and performing artist and has recorded with Aretha Franklin, The Funk Brothers, The Four Tops, jazz legend Marcus Belgrave and many others. Jazz performances include Dizzy Gillespie, Carl Fontana, Terrence Blanchard, Joe Williams, Dianne Schuur, Mel Torme, Kurt Elling, Eddie Daniels, and a host of other luminaries. Ed Gooch is a former trombonist of the Duke Ellington Orchestra with a similar recording and performing resume. These two put a fresh spin on some of the old J & K arrangements, while featuring great solos and outstanding vocalist Judie Cochill, a singer in the Rosemary Clooney style. The rhythm section consisting of Tad Weed on the piano, Jeff Halsey on bass and Dave Taylor on drums is one of the finest sections you will ever hear, the piano and bass solos are truly first rate. Unlike the J & K recordings that feature only the trombones, this live recording features the entire group and is a must have CD.
