Jupiter,Florida,Dec.2006 Kris Skovmand I am 20 years old and started playing guitar and singing and writing music at the age of 13.When I was in eight grade I joined a rock band called M.A.D ("Mutually Assured Destruction") which played two gigs doing my songs: a talent show where it won the first prize and that year's senior prom. In 2001 after having lived 10 years in Brussels, Belgium and 4 years in Bucharest Romania (my pop was a diplomat) I moved to my father's native country of Denmark. Here I was enrolled in that country's most prestigious (read" expensive and snobby") boarding school, Herlufsholm, south of Copenhagen. Here I did the International Baccalaureate, a demanding version of the High School Diploma. I did not much like the uniformed discipline and strict regulations of the school and spent much of my time writing poems, stories and music. I did record a demo, though, that included "Get the remote" which became popular around the school. After graduation I decided to leave for other pastures. (For those of you of suspicious minds: yes I passed 10th grade at Herlufsholm. My new school, Birkerød, located North of Copenhagen, was the almost complete opposite of Herlufsholm, with students of both sexes living next to each other in the dorms and, shall we say, with a more liberal approach to discipline. I started a band with three of my friends which played at local parties and at the end of the year recorded another demo in the basement of the school with 8 of my songs on it including "Crazy with you", "Flirt" and once again "Get the remote ".The following year I continued to perform -more often than not alone- at various private parties and not least at the school café on Friday afternoons, which was a partial inspiration for one of my most requested songs,"Little Friday".(For those of you unfamiliar with the partying habits of Danish high-school students, party time starts Thursday, a.k.a Little Friday). After graduating the International Baccalaureate in 2006, I decided to move to Florida (my mother is from West Palm Beach, Fla.) in order to see how far my music could take me. In the summer of 2006 I cut a more professional sounding demo with Oz Records in Jupiter, Florida, and entitled Little Friday. The CD has 14 tracks, all written and performed by me on acoustic guitar and no backing. It includes old songs from my earlier demos but also new songs like the track poking a little good-natured fun at the Dr. Phil craze (" Dr.Phil") and the more sombre anti-war song ("To the Son of a Hero"). I recently did my first gig opening for a local band called Shorething in West Palm Beach, Florida. I am currently unsigned.
