With music ranging from Bossa Nova to Lounge, La Resistance's tag "Nostalgic Latin flavor... with a French twist" is refreshingly accurate. This is another of lionel Cohen's "projects", and like all of his musical styles, it is done to perfection. Nylon string guitar leads most of these instrumentals beautifully orchestrated with piano, strings, horns, percussions and some... "weird sounds" reminiscent of Ennio Morricone. Emotionally, the listener is taken on a trip though beauty, nostalgia, melancholy, and sadness, that ultimately ends on a high note, as if to say "all experience is a growing experience." "Only Because" is the only song featuring vocals, and it seems to gracefully sum up much of the musical experience we undergo throughout the album. It is guaranteed to be a hit!
