Land of Misfit Bands 1 / Various
Round 13 Records is a music collective based in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. Round 13 was formed in 2005 by members of the band TONNAGE as a vehicle for marketing their debut CD The Fujita Scale. A year later, Round 13 welcomed the Burnsville, Minnesota group 20 Dollar Love and became home to their latest release Sex Rock Heroes. Since the addition of 20 Dollar Love, Round 13's roster has grown to include Twin Cities' bands The Ugly Fat Kids, The Dunwich Whores, The Skullcranes, The Summer People and Six Six Crush, as well as Wisconsin heavy-hitters Poney, Droids Attack and Helliphant. The Land of Misfit Bands: Volume One showcases both studio and live tracks from almost every artist associated with Round 13. The combination of studio precision and live energy captured on this album is a testament to the diversity and intensity of the Round 13 artists. Round 13 Records describes itself as a collective - not a label. It does this to underscore exactly how it differs from a traditional label. Bands don't "sign" with Round 13 records, nor does the label demand an exclusive commitment from them. What Round 13 Records requires from their artists is simply a passion for music and the willingness to work to promote both themselves as well as the rest of the Round 13 family - the bands are what make Round 13 work.
