Twisted Steel is the debut solo release from Larry James, former lead singer and guitarist for the California rock band, Rototiller Deluxe. After leaving the band, Larry abruptly abandoned the music scene and moved to the Seattle area to pursue a career in medical radiologic technology. His underlying preoccupation with music persisted, however, and he soon assembled a recording studio in his loft and began experimenting with recording techniques. At about the same time, he jumped enthusiastically into the craft of lutherie (guitar-building). Larry's intense obsessive-compulsive drives all came together in the ultimate do-it-yourself project of Twisted Steel; Larry not only wrote all the songs, he also played all the instruments, sang all the vocal parts, built the guitars, and recorded it all in his home studio.
