Real mainstream appeal here." -Dylann Deanna bluescritic.com "By blending blues, classic rock, a bit of New Orleans feel, and some folk, Larry Nath has created a CD that's strictly American...For roots music lovers, this album is a blast!" -Przemek Draheim 'The Voice of the Blues' Radio Show "...Nath sounds like a seasoned rock veteran...an expressive singer and songwriter who definitely deserves more attention." -Cis Van Looey 'Keys and Chords' Magazine "From the Stones style opener 'BoneDog Blues', to the sensitive ballad closing song, 'Tender and Tough', no complaints with the quality of this more than considerable CD." -Freddie Celis Rootstime Radio "...a classic rock CD with eight rocking songs and three ballads...a good rocking CD that you might wish to cherish." -Johan Akkermans Bobtje's Blues Pages LARRY NATH BIO: Larry Nath's debut CD, Live It! Is available now from Bonedog Records. Singer -songwriter Nath delivers a powerful collection of original music that digs deep into the American musical landscape. Containing songs of hope and redemption as well as heartache and escape, Live It! Is an album that delivers a unique, and yet in some ways comfortingly familiar, listening experience. The album is a collection of all original music with eight songs penned by Larry, and three new compositions by acclaimed songwriter Mike Sweeney (Billy Price, Bobby Wayne, Hoodoo Drugstore, etc). The songs here reflect a lifetime of influences including blues stalwarts such as Sonny Boy Williamson, Howlin' Wolf, and Albert Collins, as well as rock artists such as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Tom Petty, exuding a lyrical and musical honesty rarely found in today's mass-market music. There is a "roots rock" feel to the album as the songs emote images of a time when blues, folk, soul, and rock all blended into a cohesive whole. The musicianship on the album has a cohesive feel as well (the album features studio veterans Jimmy Britton on keyboards, Mighty 'Lil Johnson on bass, Jim Relja on keyboards, and Brandon Barnes on drums - billed here as the Bonedog Allstars) - a band playing together for the sake of bringing these songs to life, and not just for the promotion of their own self-interests. The playing is tasteful and honest, and compliments Larry's down to earth songwriting and vocal stylings. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Larry Nath has been entertaining audiences in and around the Pittsburgh area for over twenty years. After successful stints in many area bands, a seminal moment in his career came with The Mohicans, a blues band formed with guitarist (and Bonedog label-mate) Jimmy Adler. Over the next five years, the Mohicans gained notoriety and a steady following of loyal fans performing regularly at many area venues including Pittsburgh's fabled nightclub, "The Decade" in the city's Oakland section. Although the band dissolved in the mid-nineties and both Nath and Adler have established themselves as successful solo artists, their partnership continues to this day as the two perform occasionally as an acoustic/electric duo. It is therefore no surprise that Adler lends his guitar talents to three songs on Live It! Larry Nath's style has evolved into a blend of blues, soul, folk, and roots-based rock and roll, and he has proven himself to be a dynamic and versatile live performer. In the classic troubadour manner, he often plays solo acoustic shows accompanying himself on guitar and harmonica. Most recently, Larry has gained both attention and accolades as a songwriter. His compositions are simple and honest, reflecting his philosophy that, "if you want to write good songs, simply tell the truth." Larry Nath's Live It! Is a testament to that philosophy, with songs that speak to the triumphs and failures, heartaches and joys, and the twists and turns of fate that make up the odyssey of our lives.
