Product Notes

So here you have it, our 3rd compact disc that we like to call 'in Audio Magic' (for obvious reasons), a live recording of our first show back after taking nearly a year off from performing live. If you were there you know what this is all about, if not, we'll try our best to explain it: 2005 saw a lot of changes for us. With the addition of longtime friend Steve Ryder on gee-tar we knew heavy musical change was in the wind, and change is what we got... After only a few practices, we noticed our sound was evolving into a more dynamic, melodic and layered creature. Needless to say, we were pretty excited. With our new lineup and sound, we found the creative flow to be unstoppable. We wrote a lot of new stuff during that time and even reworked some of the older material from our first few CDs. Finally, in the spring of 2006 we decided it was time to unleash this new sound on the unsuspecting public. The fact that we hadn't performed live in close to a year loomed over our heads, but we knew we were ready to go. The question we kept coming back to though, was "exactly how do we reintroduce ourselves to everyone?". Luckily, the answer was right under our nose. Actually, the answer was located on Military road, just down the road from our longtime rehearsal space. Enter Audio Magic Studios; The place where we recorded our second EP 'Sway', the place where we go when we want things to sound good, the place where the drum room looks straight out of "Valley of the Dolls"... Anyway, in front of about 35 of our close friends and family, and under the watchful eyes and ears of the amazing Robbie Konikoff, we created the live recording you now hold in your hands......semi-acoustic, very stripped, and awfully quiet (at least for a usually too loud band like us). *(Quick note for the sake of you, the listener, understanding just what kind of a pain in the ass this was to do, and how completely brilliant the people are who helped put it together: The logistics of pulling the whole thing off was tough, for lack of a better term. We couldn't fit very many people into a room that's usually only used for tracking drums, and when we did have the crowd in place we couldn't play a full on rock show even if we wanted to because ears would have bled (hence the idea to do it stripped down, but fully clothed). With Mr. Krause on his acoustic guitar, Mr. Schaller with his least deafening drumset (and brushes), Mr. Ryder all quiet-like and mood inducing and Mr. Toney in full-on lounge mode, we took the "stage". It was the perfect situation for our new sound, and a sonic "curveball" for those expecting the often too loud and distorted LDOR of old. It was a magical night, and we had a blast. The best part though: we caught it all on tape. Alex's guitar on the left, Steve's on the right, rhythm section and vocals down the middle. No muss, no fuss. This CD has a little bit of everything, some of our older material, some brand new stuff, and even a few select covers of bands we admire. For those that were there that night, thanks again for coming... it meant the world to us. For those who weren't, hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as we loved making it. -Last Days of Radio.
