J. Carlos Bastidas composed the music for these two songs, and Dorothy Godlinsky and Michele Nadeau the lyrics. In the first song, Carlos combines traditional instruments like the pan-flutes, the kenas and the romantic Spanich guitar with rock rhythms. The second song, 'Happy Hearts', has a funky style using the kena as a main instrument. This CD was recorded in beautiful Vancouver before Carlos moved to Toronto. This is a limited edition and now that he is set up permanently in T.O. with his band, Latinmania, he is promoting this CD in prelude to the upcoming full CD to be released in spring 2004, with all his compositions. Since Latinmania's first show in 1994, They have been performing all across Canada. Latinmania's traditional and original compositions are a celebration of latin rhythms including Salsa, Cha-Cha-Cha, Bossa Nova, Samba, Andean, Cumbia and Bolero. They also play latin pop and latin rock styles. Their sound reflects the power and energy of the South American rainforest and the hot rhythms of it's beaches. Latinmania's colourful performances invite audience participation and never fail to keep the crowd moving to their infectious rhythms. J. Carlos Bastidas is the artistic director of the band, he is a professional musician and music educator in the Toronto area. Latinmania's performances include: Canadian Museum of Civilization in 1994, Aylmer, Quebec in 1994, Ottawa Hispanic Festival in 1995, Ottawa Tulip Festival in May 1995,The Latin Quarter Café in Vancouver 1997, Matanzas, Cuba in 2000, Canadian Memorial Centre for Peace, Vancouver in 2001, Colombian Summer Party at Toronto, summer 2002.
