Product Notes

Farmer's daughter, that's me. Growing up in the country, there was always ample opportunity to listen to the radio because you have to drive a ways to get to anywhere every single day. And with my Daddy being a bit obsessed with hi-fi equipment and my older siblings Owen and Jane typical teenagers, I got to hear a lot of different music: Glenn Miller, The Dorsey Brothers, Louie Armstrong, hymns from The Broadman Hymnal, Eddy Arnold, Patsy Cline, Dean Martin, Rosemary Clooney, Julie London, Andy Williams, the songs of Broadway & Hollywood musicals, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, The Monkees, The Beach Boys, Glen Campbell and Peter Paul & Mary were rounded out by the Motown, Stax and Brill Building hits found on our AM dial along with the regional 'beach' music of our coastal North Carolina home thrown in for good measure. Since becoming a professional musician, I've played all sorts of music in all sorts of places with all sorts of artists. Because of such varied influences, I find it difficult to define or classify the songs I write to just one genre. The songs I write are an amalgamation of my musical experience. As Gamble and Huff wrote for the O'Jays to sing... ' I love music...any kind of music I love music...just as long as it's groovin'...' For me, this album reflects that sentiment. My hope is that you think so as well. LAE about Le Ann... Long recognized in Nashville circles as a talented singer and bassist, Le Ann Etheridge is also fast becoming known as one of Nashville's freshest and most original songwriting voices. She's striking out on her own and finally concentrating on her own music after being a member of Nanci Griffith's Blue Moon Orchestra. While Griffith's last five projects have featured Le Ann's vocal and guitar talents, her songwriting talents are in evidence with two songs on Nanci's last release Hearts in Mind. In 2001, Le Ann released her first album Half A World Away (Currituck Sound Music) to critical acclaim. Produced by renowned drummer-percussionist Pat McInerney and venerated musician and singer-songwriter Clive Gregson, it garnered attention on both sides of the Atlantic. An engaging collection of vivid, well-written song-scapes, it entertains and engages you w hile exploring many musical moods ranging from folk to country to pop. Le Ann recently completed a new album of twelve original songs with Clive Gregson taking production duties. Farmer's Daughter (Currituck Sound Music) presents further evidence of Le Ann's writing and performing skills, ably supported by some of Nashville's finest musicians. The album is sure to add to Le Ann's growing reputation and increase her fanbase. Since moving to Nashville, the list of artists Le Ann has worked with continues to grow...David Olney, Allison Moorer, Pat Alger, Ian Gomm, Richard Dobson, Charly McClain, Michael Johnson, Mark Germino and the late, great Vassar Clements. It's now time for her to take center stage and Farmer's Daughter will no doubt help establish that as her rightful place. People are saying ...'a great bass player'... Norbert Putnam ...'One of the best voices I've ever heard'... 'Sneaky' Pete Kleinow, renowned steel-guitarist & original member of The Flying Burrito Brothers.
