Early in her mid-western childhood, Leah discovered her first love - music. At age 6, she began playing the piano and singing harmonies with her sisters, wowing friends and family with songs by The Carpenters and Barbra Streisand. She dreamt of someday performing on stage... Her voice and creative _expression remained mostly dormant until the year 2000 when she boldly left her San Francisco 9-5 life behind, committing to the pursuit of her art. She began singing, first in an a cappella trio, then in a folk-rock duo called 'Maya Rides Away'. They wrote and performed their own material and opened for the likes of Shawn Mullins and Michelle Shocked. Their music earned multiple 'Best Song' awards from the Northern California Songwriter's Association. In 2002, Leah sang in a collaboration called 'Common Thread', chosen by Music Connection Magazine as one of the top unsigned Bands in Los Angeles. She recorded her first solo album in 2003. 'Leah's voice', says Music Connection magazine, is 'dazzling, pitch-perfect and bird song clear...a find along the lines of Linda Ronstadt'. You may hear subtle influences of Sarah McLaughlin, Sade and Sheryl Crow. Smoky, sultry and powerful, her music is an inspiration for us all to follow our dreams. Look for the release of her much-awaited second album in 2006.
