Inspired by the romantic rock of Psychedelic Furs and Bauhaus, Legion Within convergences darkwave and classic industrial. Ethereal guitars and keyboards are balanced by driving bass and powerful vocals. \'If you\'ve been longing for gothic rock in the classic style, Legion Within will satisfy your craving\' (Industrial Nation). Bio ------ Founded in 2000 by songwriter and vocalist William Wilson, Legion Within's distinctive sound quickly established them among the best of their genre. Having their feet planted firmly in both romantic darkwave and classic industrial, they have shared the stage with compatriots on Projekt Records including Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Voltaire, and Audra, as well as Collide. In creating their third release, the empty men, Legion Within partnered with the production gurus of KMFDM; Jules Hodgson, Steve White and Sascha Konietzko. The Empty Men expresses both bleak political sentiment and pulsing industrial beats while retaining their dark romantic roots. REVIEWS ------- Virus! Magazine published an enthusiastic review including: "The Seattle five-piece is a shamelessly talented band with an acute sense of melody and atmosphere." Crave Magazine says, \'the release is a herald to traditional gothic rock mixed with an industrial sheen. Vocalist William Williamson even sounds noticeably like an American version of Peter Murphy. If the band is trying to get the atmosphere and musical tone of the early heyday of gothrock when bands such as Murphy\'s Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Joy Division dominated the gloomy dancefloors in the Eighties, they\'ve succeeded with this offering.\' ReGen Magazine \'Artist Spotlight\' Interview by Ilker Yücel, Assistant Editor: One might not think the marriage of goth rock and industrial to be an easy feat to accomplish, but Legion Within does so in remarkably fine fashion. Founded in 2000 by vocalist/guitarist William Wilson, this Seattle five-piece has been honing a sound that is distinguished by stark atmospheres of melodic bass lines, sparse but powerful guitars, and a few hints of machine-like rhythms and synthesizers, grounding their music as much in the darkwave scene characterized by groups like Black Tape for a Blue Girl and Audra as it is in the industrial rock scene. It is through this combination of genres that the group has associated with the members of KMFDM, first with the remix of \'Cover Me\' on the band's second album, Aeons, and now with their latest release, The Empty Men, lending both remix and production assistance to the band's politically charged dirges, creating a brutal and brilliant mix. Six years and three albums into their career, Legion Within are a steadily rising force in the arena of modern music, complete with the KMFDM seal of approval. MICK MERCER, Gothic Icon: snippet: \''Fascisti' churns and hums like 'Eighties'-era Killing Joke, mixing sample of dimpled-brained George Bush and the oxymoron of military intelligence. Caressed by KMFDM's lusciously mailed fist of production it's as pushy as the sumptuously rising, writhing 'Wrath Of The Empty Men' is seductively gruesome, like Chris Isaak with stomach wounds The coyly ringing guitar lights their way through a dark labyrinth the band idle, strum, coo and stager on bleakly, Wilson's vibrato sometimes making him sound like some supergran. 'Rise' comes at your like street-level helicopters, flanked by giant war elephants playing home made drums. Kaboomtatsic, it prances and strides, and you'll back off. Did I mention Killing Joke? This makes 'Wardance' sound like a lullaby. Rah, the lust of the Mohicans! (And if that isn't an album title somewhere soon, it should be!) RAHHHHHH!!!!! Comparatively soothing 'She Chides' is a comfy chair bound for the heart of the sun, swooning and lurching, where 'Led Astray' is a googly-eyed purring synth octopus become hopelessly emotional, the 'Fascisti (Ultra Heavy Beat remix)' is wiggly fun and 'Glass Ships (Mutiny Mix)' could be Andi Sex Gang turned into a centaur strutting his stuff in a disco in Hell.\'
