A new voice has emerged from the rich music community of western North Carolina. With her cello like voice, skillful guitar playing and well crafted songs; Leigh Hilger has been leaving her audiences wanting to hear more. Her musical background, ranging from classical to old time music, adds a refreshing twist to her original americana style folk music. Leigh grew up on a family farm but spent her high school and college years studying voice and dance at the Florida School of the Arts and University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Though she changed paths and finished with her Masters in Health Education it was only a matter of time before Leigh returned to the arts. After honing her skills in Austin, Texas, Leigh settled in the mountains of North Carolina where she quickly developed a steady following. Currently, Leigh spends her time touring the Eastern United States with growing popularity. She has appeared with: Moliie O'Brien, Sara Hickman, Tom Prasado Rao, Eddie From Ohio and The Freight Hoppers, among others. After just three years as a solo artist, Leigh has been receiving the type of press typically reserved for veteran artists. Her debut CD, Casting Shadows, (ISG Records, 1999) produced with Chris Rosser, rose to number sixteen on the FolkDJ chart, garnering the attention of the music industry. It has been featured on syndicated radio shows including Minnesota Public Radio's, Rose Cafe and Rob Reinhardt's Acoustic Cafe. Whether you listen to her album or see her live, Leigh always shares herself through songs that are honestly written and delivered with power and conviction.
