Jazz pianist and Steinway Artist Lenore Raphael is a well-known international touring artist with major performance credits...from Jazz At Lincoln Center in New York City to Ronnie Scott's famed jazz club in London, she has gained the respect of jazz critics, jazz radio hosts and jazz fans for her hard-swinging and lyrical takes on standards and her ASCAP award winning original tunes. In her newest CD, Class Act, she reunites her great New York trio, Hilliard Greene on bass and Rudy Lawless on drums for the third recording with this trio. Recorded live in concert in New York City at Steinway Hall, she is one of the first artist to utilize the acoustics in the venerable location and come up with a recording that makes you feel like you are there. Previous CDs since 1991 include The Whole Truth, Reflections, Wingin' It, A Beautiful Friendship. Her 2007 release Invitation - live, was up for GRAMMY consideration in 2008. Lenore tours internationally and has performed as of this writing in London, Edinburgh Scotland and in Canada in Vancouver and Toronto. She has performed almost everywhere in the United States and was a featured artist on the S.S. Oosterdam Jazz Cruise. Her stunning tribute to Oscar Peterson in Toronto brought out a huge audience of admirers and the great vocalist Jon Hendricks sat in with Lenore. He said 'She is one of the 'baddest' pianists out there today.' On tour in the UK she was able to perform with drummer Martin Drew who was one of Oscar Peterson's favorite drummers on tour. On the same bill as the great trumpeter Jon Faddis at Ronnie Scott's in London, UK audiences soon became enamored of Lenore's swinging style. Jack Masserik, well known jazz critic for the London Herald wrote 'she played in the mainstream in a style reminiscent to her main man Oscat Peterson. An early return seems likely'. Sheila Tracey, writer for Stage Magazine wrote 'Raphael is the most inventive of pianists'. Lenore is also involved in jazz education and does Master Classes and Workshops in jazz at schools all over the world as well. She is a published author of a jazz theory book called 'Jazz Master Class' which was published by Hansen House Music.
