Faceless in the Crowd
Hook driven guitar rock with electrifying melodies, classic roots, infectious sound with energy packed performances, best describes the Tempe, AZ alternative pop-rock band 'Lightyear.' 'These guys are so good, so energetic, and so into what they're doing that if I had a radio station I'd play'em, right now' says Joe Hartlaub, Music-reviewer.com Formerly named 'Six Point Restraint.', the group changed their name to 'Lightyear' soon after the beginning of the year 2001. The band is made up of 5 members, Ryan Borze, Mike Kaplan, Aaron Bland, Mike Berrelleza and Jon Thwaits. Most of the band have performed together for more than six years. Credits to the band are numerous: Lightyear toured regionally from New Mexico up the west coast to Seattle on their own. As well as touring regionally with the CTN Tour with Cherry Recording artist 'Stroke 9'. Lightyear has opened for numerous national artists. They performed at NXNW in 1998, the Fiesta Bowl New Years Eve Block Party 2000 and 2002 and recently the Phoenix Fabulous 4th, 2003 headlining on the second stage. Their music has been licensed as soundtrack music in MTV's 'Making the Video' and MTV's 'Undressed'. In the fall of 2002 the band was selected by LA Music Scene.com to participate in Acoustic Live series in LA. Which landed them a spec deal with LA record producer Rogers Masson. Additionally they performed in 'Tour Baby' (Phoenix, Las Vegas & San Diego shows) CD Baby national tour series. They were one of 15 national bands selected to be Local Finalist in Nokia 'Best Unsigned band' search in fall of 2002. As well as Semi-finalist in Discmaker's 2002 SW region competition. They have remained on the top 10 list of Mike Galaxy's 'band promote' site since May 2003, as well as having their song 'Hello, Goodbye' rank #22 out of 20,949 songs on Garageband.com's all time pop/rock chart and #2 out of 1,129 pop/rock songs on Jan 7, 2004 Lightyear recently participated in the WB6 'Uncovered' television program and won the title of 2005 WB6 house band. Lightyear has released two albums as a group and plan to release their third album 'Faceless in the Crowd' in January 2005. The album was recorded in Phoenix, AZ by Travis Engler and mixed and mastered in Hanzek Studio in Seattle, WA by legendary producer Jack Endino (hot hot heat, Nirvana) Featured tracks from the upcoming third album appear on the following other CDs: 'Green & White Pill' on Gig America 2003 (NY) compilation that was released at SXSW 2003, 'Blind Horizon' on Mike Galaxy's (LA) May 2003 Sampler and 'Vitality' on PF Chang's Rock and Roll Marathon 2004 & 2005 compilation.
