Meditations of My Heart
Lisa D. Nelson, is a musician/producer/arranger/choir director/traveling Evangelist, workshop facilitator and identified as the 'Music Minister'. She is the youngest of a family of renown musicians from Chicago, Il. Active her entire life in music, this project tells many stories through her style and graceful touch. Dedicated to the memory of her father, Fred Nelson, Jr., organist extraordinaire, it speaks of her heavy spiritual and Christian values...it speaks of years of classical piano training, serious retro-funk groove and her love of jazz piano. It speaks of years of skill and experience in her performance versatility and definitely speaks of her direct bloodline to the style of her father. Having served in Music Ministry in church and the secular and gospel industry throughout her life, she has over 30 years of experience. She has served as Musical Director, written and performed with Bobby Jones, Jennifer Holliday, Anita Baker, Barbara Mandrell, Clifton Davis, Al Green, Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, Kurt Carr, Vickie Winans, Tramaine Hawkins, Edwin Hawkins, Sandra and Andre Crouch, Ricky Dillard and New G, O'Landa Draper and the Associates, Kim Burrell, Albertina Walker, Pastor Shirley Caeser and many others. As the owner of Class A Music Productions of 19 years, she has produced and arranged for several artists as well as written orchestral scores. She also currently serves as the fiery director of the Union Baptist Church Mass Choir of New York where she produced the last 2 CD's Glory To God in the Highest' (Christmas gospel) and 'Testimony' (straight up church) This is her first solo CD. "Meditations" is an instrumental gospel jazz presentation set to sooth the soul. This project contains several gospel favorites performed by a plethora of various instrumental sounds leading their way through smooth, warm, borderline sultry, occasional vocals and a purposely retro pulsing rhythm track. The artist's 'Sybil like' musical personality shines forth as this project stems from smooth jazz through pulsing churchy gospel to classical orchestral arrangement of traditional hymns. It evens contains a comical unbelievable ragtime piano performance of 'What A Fellowship' just for fun. The message is confirmed Christian based in the spoken word segments flowing in and out of this project. This CD is definitely a good tree trimming, set the atmosphere kind of Christmas stocking stuffer for all relatives and friends although designed and appropriate for listening all year long. Good for all ages but definitely a classy 'grown folks' CD.
