Volume 1: Chants & Melodies
Litany for the Departed is a Austin-based original hard rock band initially formed by Corey Trahan and Ryan Landry in March of 2006. Throughout the years, these two have played in numerous projects and performed in countless shows all over the state of Texas. Some of these projects include Carbon-14 (both), Zen Merchants (Corey), Paradigm (both), and Caged (Ryan). Both bring a creativity, knowledge, and dimension to whatever project they are in. The rhythms best describe by these two are a fascinating hybrid of both power and melody, giving Litany depth and diversity, a heavy edge with ear-catching hooks. Soon after starting the project, Amanda Lombard was added to the lineup on lead vocals. Amanda's passionate ability to transform from raw emotion to epic and beautiful choruses was exactly what Litany needed to blossom. Previously, Amanda had been involved with projects such as Thrillcore, and Inertia, both of which were lucrative and fast paced. However, Amanda thirsted for a more creative, modern sound - difficult to find in the Austin music scene. Through Litany, Amanda found just what she was searching for, a creative outlet where she could vent her lyrics honestly and uninhibited. Shortly after adding Amanda to the lineup, the band decided that a second guitarist was needed for more orchestration and heavier tones. For this purpose, veteran musician Mike Carpenter, was asked to join Litany on guitar. Mike's previous projects are many, including Ugly Tribe, and excellent Texas rock band widely recognized in the mid to late '90s. Having hailed from Corey and Ryan's home town in Southeast Texas, it seemed a perfect match. In fact, it was. By acquiring Mike, Litany now had the depth and heaviness they originally sought. Mike brought new creativity and a sensible, metal edge to the project. Currently, Litany for the Departed is touring throughout the state of Texas, promoting their first CD, Volume 1: Chants and Melodies. The CD was produced by Litany and the project engineer Danny Stapleton, a well-established multi-styled engineer out of Austin, TX.
