Product Notes

'She's smart, funny and, quite possibly, the outspoken heir to the Ani DiFranco throne.' - St. Petersburg Times. In Lorna Bracewell's latest release, Flowers on the Chains, the artist throws down her musical and lyrical gauntlet to the world, as she tackles issues of political injustice ('Flowers on the Chains'), personal integrity ('Wrong Way to Love'), and grace and forgiveness ('Over You'). Producer Justin Beckler matches the integrity and raw honesty of the lyrics with his richly textured layers of sound generated exclusively by just three musicians: Lorna Bracewell as vocalist/guitarist, drummer/percussionist Noel Bisesti, and himself. The result is a setting for Bracewell's songs that propels each of them toward it's intensely personal, yet powerfully universal, meaning. Listeners to Flowers on the Chains will not find slick formulaic recapitulations of mindless overused themes set to sugary pitch-corrected vocals over chord progressions calculated by popularity polls. Instead, they will be challenged to look intently inside at their own demons of personal and corporate prejudice and injustice through tones and moods and textures that weave a gnarly yet beautiful picture of the glories and the ignominies of life 'On this Earth.'
