Product Notes

A totally independant 'kitchen-sink' production . . . which hopefully doesn't sound like pots and pans !! Tracks:14 - Songs:13 - Duration:60 min - NO FILLERS here!! Genres: rock n' roll, 60s beat, pop (folk, romantic ballad, world), blues, celtic rock, orchestral, alternative TRACK LISTING 1 Wait! (60's beat) 3:12 2 Although You're Gone (pop) 4:05 Written in 1998 when my elderly neighbour died. She was a good neighbour. I still have fond memories of her. 3 Achill Island (pop) 3:46 The melody was written in 1973 as a slow air. When I moved to Achill Island in 1993 I finally wrote the lyrics. 4 Rainy Day (folk pop) 2:59 I usually don't write folk songs. Yet it's a nice song. I am saving my honour and self respect by calling this a 'folk pop' song. 5 The Hooley (& A Jig in Rathfarnham) (celtic rock) 4:26 The 1st part is a melody with joking lyrics, the 2nd part is celtic rock. Get ready to stomp your feet! 6 Your Song (romantic ballad) 4:16 It is a fact of life that young 'plain' girls suddenly turn into pretty teenagers, and capture the attention and interest of unsuspecting males. It happened to me and this song is the result. A beasutiful melodic orchestrated song. 7 Angel Called Love (world pop) 3:30 This is a strange interesting song - slightly experimental, as regards instruments. 8 Dancing Gang (rock n' roll) 3:56 What can one say about rock n' roll? Great !! 9 It's No Use (melodic blues) 4:40 This is just a simple blues song - but recorded as a melodic song rather than a guitar song. The dulcimer and the harmonies make it sound different. 10 On A Saturday (adult album alternative) 4:35 This song was inspired by the terrible act of terrorism and violence which occured in Omagh, Co Tyrone, Ireland, on Saturday 15th of August 1998, when an IRA terrorist parked a car, which was packed with explosives, in the busy main street. When it exploded it killed 29 people and also killed unborn twins. It maimed others. It destroyed many many lives. I find the chorus very moving. 11 Springtime Blues (jazzy blues instrumental) 4:50 THIS is the real Lou - Lou the 'guitarman'. There will be more of that in the future. 12 Singing High (adult album alternative) 6:06 This song is about the concentration camps set up by the Nazis during WW2. I remember hearing a story that some elders met and questioned whether god had abandoned them. It certainly looked that way. 13 Baby Carrie (orchestral) 4:05 An orchestral piece with some rock thrown in for good measure. 14 On A Saturday (acoustic version) 5:23 see track 10 CD DESCRIPTION This CD spans 35 years of songwriting by Lou and thus covers varying genres. Lou is lazy and waits till a song comes into his head and that is that - Lou is stuck with that particular genre for that particular song (well, usually). It is only when he is recording each song that he actually gets up off his ass and does a bit of work and tries to discover the potential and possibilities of each song. With a little encouragement each song suddenly changes from being a simple little 'ditty' and takes on a life and sound of it's own. This CD is suitable for those who like a variation of genres - you won't get bored listening to the CD from start to finish. It is definitely a CD for listening to, especially using headphones - for there is a lot to hear in most of the songs. But talk is talk - just a lot of hot air. Lou leaves that for the politicians and con-men (aren't they the same??). Have a listen, and another listen, and another . . . I think you will like what you hear. I hope you will like what you hear.
