Mac the Ambassador
Marcus D. Davis, aka "Mac the Ambassador', calls himself hip-hop's "Ambassador to the Carolinas". Born in Rock Hill, and raised in Charlotte, Mac says he has had 'music flowing through his veins' all his life. Mac says he was, 'raised and educated, gangster style, in the streets', and this gritty background is reflected in his hard-edged but thoughtful lyrics, hot rhythmic flow, and distinct swagger. Musically, Mac sites his influences as 'old school' hip-hop and R&B, and Jay Z. When asked about his short-term goals, Mac responds, 'To have my music heard all over the world, and make a better life for my family'. Personal growth, and overcoming adversity are common themes in Mac's songs, and he views hip-hop music as a powerful tool for advocating positive social and political change for the underprivileged. Mac says that his mother is the most influential person in his life. Asked about his long-term goals, Mac says, 'to empower my children to grow up in a better world than I did, and to be known as one of the greats when I'm gone.
