Maggie Seligman hails from New York City and has listened to and been influenced by music and vocal styles of all types, ranging from standards and jazz to folk/traditional. After leaving New York, she lived in the Ohio foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and spent time in West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina. Though her sound and style are entirely her own, they reflect a potent mix of city edginess and roots traditions, leading her to describe her music as "eclectic acoustic." In performance, Maggie delivers powerful and passionate interpretations of her originals and fresh takes on American and British traditional songs, folk, and standards. She possesses "a very interesting, unique sound which I was quite captivated by. Very lyrical, good sense of harmony, good pitch, and excellent vocal communication," as one reviewer expressed.
