Secret of My Heart
Mai K has quickly become a bonafide pop superstar in Japan. While growing up she was very much influenced by American R&B flovored pop by the likes of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson. While still in high school she was signed to a recording contract on the strength of a demo tape she had made. Given Mai K's interest in American R&B, her label decided to make a single with her in America, and chose Boston's Cybersound Studios to record at. Producer Perry Geyer (Sarah McLaughlin, New Kids on the Block) was so impressed with her natural talent that he suggested releasing the resulting 'Baby I Like' in America. In October 1999 the single was released, which immediately sold out it's initial pressing. Back in Japan, Mai K (where she uses her full name Kuraki Mai) released her debut album 'Delicious Way', which became a smash hit sellling 3.5 million copies and becoming one of the biggest selling albums in Japanese music history. In addition the album sold well in other Asia territories. While she was working as a star, she was accepted by the Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, studied modern culture/society and graduated successfully. She has been devoting herself for recording and touring. She has released 21 singles, all top-ten hits in Japan, 4 original albums and 1 best album. Her awaited new original album will be released on August 24th. This Mai K's debut album in US contains English language versions of her biggest hits, 'Love, Day After Tomorrow', 'Never Gonna Give You Up', 'Stay by My Side' and 'Secret of My Heart'.
