Yon's a Fool
Just like STAR Wars episode I, II, III, the album Yon's a fool took 20 years to be released, meanwhile waiting for technical developments to mature. But seriously......... Manic Treat is Serge Epskamp and Jurre Engelsman. They founded the band in June 2005. Much of their first album 'Yon's a fool' was recorded at Jur's home studio called 'The Skeurhut'. Three years ago, they both moved to Zandhuizen. A small village in the north of Holland. Being practically neighbours, they turned Zandhuizen into a musical epicenter. They very naturally blend pop, blues, rock, country, singer songwriters and other roots music into a very new cool progressive altpop style. Jurre is a typical rock guitarist and his heroes are Eddie Van Halen and Zakk Wylde. He played leadguitar for the zapponian band 'Flux' and was co-founder of the Feedback and FuzzRox band 'Maddox'. You can't believe the sounds he makes with his tools. He produced two solo albums as his alter ego Egan Dyce. Serge is a singer songwriter in the proper sense of the word and was musically raised by Emmy-Lou Harris and Neil Young. His style can be modest and fragile as well as powerful and enthusiastic, always accompanied by his guitar or piano. He owns a very pleasant and outstanding voice and produced two singer songwriters albums. If you are lucky to catch them at a live performance you will be manically treated by a very surprisingly steaming and stirring show, combined with calm and soothing pauses and improvisation. It's great to see them pull it off, just the two of them. What are you waiting for? Go now, listen to the songs and buy that CD!
