Marina Alexandra has established herself as a dynamic performer with a powerful stage presence. She was described as, " the first-rate guitar virtuoso! Marina's technique is very impressive, but the best thing about her playing is a tremendous range of expression". (American Record Guide) Over the past five years, Mrs. Alexandra has received awards in several guitar competitions including: Music Teachers National Association State and Regional Competitions, the South Carolina Guitar Competition, and recognition as a semifinalist in the 6th annual Edwin H. and Leigh W. Schadt National String Competition for classical guitar. In 2006, she was a semifinalist for the Columbus International Guitar Competition. Mrs. Alexandra was born in the Ukraine, where she began her guitar studies at the age of six. In 1996, Marina immigrated with her family to USA and in 1998, she was awarded a scholarship to continue her studies towards a Masters of Music degree with Christopher Berg at the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Alexandra is the founder of the Guitar Muse Concert Series in Columbia, South Carolina, featuring nationally and internationally known classical guitarists. Her teaching experience includes directing the guitar programs at University of South Carolina in Aiken and Wingate University in North Carolina. Her students have been awarded scholarships and prizes in local and national guitar competitions.
