Dreaming of Electric Sheep
Dear Listener, I have been playing wind instrument (mostly flute) for the past fifteen odd years... and I am always fascinated by the variety of melodies that one is able to produce from such a seemingly simplistic musical tool. In this album, I have included some of my earliest recordings with some of my more recent works and, strange to say, they seem to mesh together in a most pleasing manner. I would like to give you a bit of history concerning the recording process... The original seeds of the album were sown in my early twenties... My father had given me, as a gift, a Tascam 4-track digital recorder in addition to a Gemeinhardt flute. I sat in my Thomaston, ME apartment working out melodies that seemed both forced and naïve. Well, as a gift to my father one Christmas, I gave him the first CD that I had made in my life's journey... I did not save a copy for myself and, over the years, forgot about that gift, going on to create numerous albums under the project name of Earth's Seductive Haze (all of which can be bought here on CDBaby). Recently, while working on another E.S.H. album, I visited my father's home and stumbled upon this odd collection of songs I had produced so long ago that, to my now-learned-ear, seemed very intricate and beautiful... Why not combine these early works with the new? That was the question that I asked myself and, here you will find the end result. I hope that this collection pleases you. ~Mark Murray.
