Live at Mike's
Mark Pertain has been a prominent member of the Atlanta country music and songwriting community for the last 20 plus years. He posseses a great singing voice and is a gifted acoustic guitarist. After spending most of the eighties and nineties playing in clubs or on the road, he decided to concentrate on his songwriting and recording. His songs contain catchy melodies and thoughtful lyrics, alternating between heartfelt sentiment and humor. They are full of references to the unique American experience, both modern day and of years gone by. From the driving 'Summer's Last Saturday Night', a tale of two best friends from highschool on a last romp together before heading their seperate ways, to the loving 'Daddy's Little Man', dedicated to Mark's son, to the heartbreaking--then uplifting 'Oh Emily', he weaves a musical story telling tapestry with a guitar style many have compared to James Taylor. In 2005 Mark released 'Live at Mike's', an album of live solo acoustic versions of some of his favorite songs including those listed above, and from his 2 previous CDs, 'The Day I'm Goin' Through' and 'Local Bar Superstar'. This record is me 'mistakes and all' he says, and is very proud of the way it came out. Mark hopes to release a new studio album in mid 2007. He currently lives in Acworth, GA a suburb of Atlanta.
