Martin Rivas, former guitarist/singer with Serious Pilgrim, made his solo debut with 2000's Glorious. Originally tabbed as a giveaway disc at a 2000 friends/family reunion at a much-beloved Upstate New York mountain getaway, demand by Serious Pilgrim fans for copies of the disc grew to the point that Martin had no choice but to release it. This is a slightly truncated version of the disc. Glorious celebrates Betty's Twisted Acres and the annual get-together of a bunch of good friends that takes place around Hall-of-Fame Weekend each summer. Sprinkled amongst the spoofs and tributes are some very strong compositions, most notably 'Glorious,' 'Everything I Am,' 'Woodchuck Knoll,' and 'Wherever.' 'Giant Biscuit,' a staple of Serious Pilgrim's shows in the mid-1990's, is also featured. If you're a real fan of Serious Pilgrim or Martin Rivas, you must have this disc. Martin continues to write and perform in New York City, and is also playing his heart out, be it at his solo full-band shows, with NYC-based singer/songwriters Kailin Garrity and Rachel Platten, or with his pal Craig Meyer playing his beloved old r&b songs several nights per week in NYC.
