Standing for Jesus
Mary Brown being lead by the Holy Spirit as a songwriter, producer, and singing artist has been crafting her gifts since the age of seven. At a young age she began writing poetry and later putting her poems to music. Her singing style of gospel, spiritual, and classical has gained the respect and admiration of her many fans and followers. Throughout Mary's singing career, she has harnessed the needed experience and maturity to firmly direct her career exactly where she wants it to go. Starting in her hometown of Atlanta, when she was a child and singing in her church choir. This was the foundation of her belief that God has a great love for His children and it is our task as servants to guide His children. In 1995 Mary accepted the task of teaching twenty-five youngsters of God's love through song. The group, Love Deliverance, was well recived as they shared their talents throughout the Atlanta area. Previously she had formed a trio of young men known as Chase; they have since branched out to fulfill many accomplishments of their own. Another group that she formed and sang with earlier was Mary Brown and Company. Education has always been important to Mary and she feels a necessity for her complete development. For this reason, Mary holds an Education degree from Georgia Perimeter College as well as degrees in Religion and Sociology from Saint Leo University. Currently Mary is working toward her Masters from The International Theological Center She knows that education is important, however, it is through the direction and anointing of the Holy Spirit that keeps her focused. This is why the title of her debut solo CD, 'I Want to Follow Jesus', expresses so vividly her devotion to the Word of God. One of Mary's traits is sharing her beliefs with others. She has been accomplishing this task in different ways. Mary has been interviewed by some of Atlanta's leading gospel radio disc jockeys. The likes of KISS 104.1 with Reggie Gaye and Eli Smith of WYZE, just to mention a few. Also live performances allows her to spread her message of God's grace through song. Mary organized a concert to benefit homeless shelters in Atlanta. She shared the headline with Wanda Nero Butler for this worthy cause. Recently she held a Father's Day Musical Extravaganza for the enjoyment of those who love the Lord. Mary feels a great need to serve people by volunteering weekly in one of Atlanta's nursing homes. She has been serving these seniors for more than the past decade. As a licensed minister, her ministry touches persons of all ages in many ways. Still, Mary is displaying her continued development with the release of her new CD, 'Standing for Jesus'. It contains some contemporary songs and traditional gospel spirituals; she has delivered a message for all to receive. She offers her own songs such as 'If It Wasn't for the Lord' and 'Nobody Loves Me Like Jeus'. On this release she gives her rendition of 'God's Tribute'.
