Wrong Side of Town
Multi-instrumentalist Mary Wiles, who has been rated as one of the top women performers in Northwest country music, has been compared to the legendary Barbara Mandrell because she plays so many instruments! Fiddle, banjo, blues harmonica, keyboards, mandolin and guitar all all played with easy stride in one of Mary's shows. Her ability to switch musical styles from bluegrass to rock has helped her have wide demographic appeal. Wiles has toured extensively with her band and opened for country stars Loretta Lynn, Tracy Byrd, the 60's hit making group 'The Association'. Mary's CD 'Wrong Side of Town' contains a refreshing mix of varying styles that has been coined as 'Country Rockin' Blues'. Mary's earthy rock and country blues back lyrics that tell the stories inside each of us. One of the songs which won a Billboard Song Contest award, 'Play it Like Grandpa Plays', tells a story of how her grandfather taught her to play violin as a child. 'Wrong Side of Town', the title track, is an earthy rock & blues number that tells of how Mary's car broke down at 2am in the red light district of a large city. 'Alligator Country' takes you back into the marshlands where your gun is the only law. A diverse and eclectic CD... one of a kind! All the songs on the CD were written and performed by Wiles and highlight her talents of being an exceptional songwriter, vocalist and instrumentalist. A must have for any collection.
