Matt Lund: Works is a collection of instrumental compositions by guitarist Matt Lund. Mr. Lund is featured on electric, acoustic, classical and pedal steel guitar. The music is performed by Mr. Lund and a chamber ensemble including electric bass, drum set, piano, saxophone and percussion. There is a wide range of styles on this CD including classical, jazz, Spanish, ambient, folk and contemporary. It is pleasing as atmospheric music but can also be compelling to an active listener. Tracks 1, 2, 6, 8, 9 & 10 involve the chamber ensemble, track 3 is comprised exclusively of guitars, track 4 is a trio of classical guitar, bass clarinet and drum set, track 5 features electric lead guitar played over an ethereal keyboard background, track 7 is a solo classical guitar piece, and track 11 displays the whole ensemble engaged in complete improvisation. Another feature on this CD is the position of bass guitar is filled by the unique and exciting player Bill Clements (be sure to check out 'The Lund Clements Churchill Trio' and 'Bill Clements: Undergroundalienbass' available on CD Baby!). Biography: Matt Lund performs, composes and teaches music. His main instrument is electric guitar but he also plays acoustic, classical and pedal steel guitar. His style is influenced by experience with rock 'n roll, classical, jazz, blues, pop, R&B, country and fusion. Mr. Lund began to play guitar at 16 and immediately took to the instrument and immersed himself in music. He then studied jazz, classical and other styles of music while earning his music degree from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He performed in the college's jazz big band, gave recitals on solo classical guitar, performed with multiple student bands and presented original compositions for his Senior Individualized Project. After graduating in 1999, Mr. Lund became very involved in the Kalamazoo music scene and the surrounding region. He gained local recognition for his musical projects, including performing with various bands (Burning Tent Revival, The Undercats, The New York Room, Six Demon Bag, The Lund Clements Churchill Trio (aka The Light Fusion Trio), Lovey Howl, The Tumblers and The Bill Clements Group), making several studio recordings ('The Lund Clements Churchill Trio' and 'Matt Lund: Works') and three acclaimed concerts showcasing his performance and compositional skills. He also received two grants from the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo to help fund his continuing musical efforts. In July 2006 Mr. Lund attended the National Guitar Workshop for which he was given a full scholarship. Mr. Lund also has experience as a teacher; he taught private guitar lessons in Kalamazoo at Broughton Music Center from 2000-2006 and in Battle Creek, Michigan at the Community Music School and Kellogg Community College from 2002-2006. In August, 2006 Mr. Lund relocated to Murfreesboro, Tennessee where he received a graduate assistantship and earned a Master of Arts in Jazz Guitar from Middle Tennessee State University. He is currently adjunct faculty at MTSU, and also teaches guitar at Gene Ford Music in Brentwood, Tennessee, and at the Middle Tennessee Arts Academy in Smyrna, Tennessee. Mr. Lund is also active in The Lund McVey Group, Rescued Souls, Axe Of God, and The Time Raiders, and as an in-demand sideman for recording and performing in the Nashville area.
