It Is of You
Over the past 12 years or so I have lead worship at several churches and for several youth groups and events. I began to feel a real urging from the Holy Spirit to begin writing songs that were fun, easy, and contained powerful lyrics that the Lord would use to change lives. Below is a brief description of the inspiration for the songs on this album. I hope you enjoy and are touched by the power of these songs. COME MEET MY KING: This song is simply an invitation to those who don't yet know Jesus as their savior and king. It also serves as a reminder of who he is to those who may have walked away or are longing for deeper intimacy with him. This is a very powerful song which I believe will open his people's eyes again to the greatness of who he is. GIVE IT UP: When I wrote this song, the Lord was showing me the many idols we have placed in our lives. These idols are anything big or small that do not align with his purpose for us. This song is to be a proclamation that we are willing to give these things up and truly lay our lives down before him, giving him all we are and all we will be. The truth is, he is all we need! WAKE ME UP: The Lord told me to write an aggressive song with powerful lyrics and a cry to him of simply, "WAKE ME UP". So this is what I came up with. I know for a fact that when people sing this, and come to a place in there hearts where they truly embrace it, that he will be faithful and respond. This song is for believers and unbelievers alike. The Lord is ever changing his people and this is a cry to move to the next level. HALLELUJAH: This is the most relaxed song in this project. I felt an urging to write a slower, more intimate song, and this is what came out, a simple song of worship and proclamation that I will never cease to worship him. LIFE IN ME: The bible says that we have received within us the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. This "Life In Me" that I wrote of is his spirit in us. The song is a proclamation of the realization of his moving deep within us and a longing to see his free reign in our lives, a longing to walk in his purpose and promises. There is a line in this song that simply states "I Am Free". This is a very powerful proclamation and will impact the lives of those who sing it and embrace it. IT IS OF YOU: This song also hinges strongly on the fact that we have the spirit of Christ within us. If we embrace this fact and allow his moving in our lives, then we truly are acting as Jesus on the earth and everything we do or speak is truly "Of Him". The Lord told me this song was to serve as a reminder of our ultimate goal, to put down our flesh and give him total control. HOLY: I am constantly reminded of the worship that is going on in heaven and has gone on forever around the throne. "HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, IS THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, WHO WAS AND IS AND IS TO COME". These phrases, although simple, contain so much revelation within them that they can be sung forever and ever without being outdated. This never ceases to amaze me and is the reason I wrote this song. It is simply to proclaim his holiness and majesty while submitting myself to all of who He is. I CHOOSE ALL OF YOU: The Lord's intentions for his people have not changed over time. Everything he had for us in the beginning, he has for us now. We know this is true because he bridged the gap of our sin by sending his son as the ultimate sacrifice. As his people, we are called to accept his righteousness, stand tall, and represent him as a victorious people walking in all of his love and strength on the earth. This song is a bold proclamation to our King that we choose all of Him, and give all that we are to see his original and only purposes fulfilled on this earth. TO KNOW YOU: Many times I find myself envisioning the worship that happens around the throne room of heaven. It is these visions that bring me to my knees in awestruck wonder. In these times there is an intense urging to know our King at a deeper level. This is the inspiration behind this song. The proclamation is this; I must know him, I must seek him, I will see his face. I MUST RESPOND: Have you ever felt the Lord moving in your spirit in a way that generates great passion for a deeper intimacy with him? This is the longing, churning, and the desire that I speak of in this song. It is at these times in my life that I know I must respond to him. If I don't, I may miss what he is doing. This song was birthed from a proclamation that I have made several times in my life. "I must, I will, respond to you when you move."
