Songs to Someone
Sharing his thoughts through music about everything that seems to be on his mind is, well what's on his mind. With his self-released debut album "Songs to Someone," Matt shares a few of his thoughts to those who like to experience a musical journey. After spending a year in Kosovo from 2004 to 2005, and then dealing with difficult domestic issues, Matt wrote and recorded the 11 songs on the album "Songs to Someone." "Each song is a specific conversation with a specific person, or in same cases a group of people," Matt relates. "I couldn't figure out what to name the album until I looked back at all the songs and saw that they were each to a different person or people, so that's what I did - named it for that 'someone.'" From songs that deal with the indecisiveness in a specific relationship (Not Stupid), drugs and suicidal behavior (Baby Girl), to the hypocrisy of politicians regarding current affairs (Pointing Our Fingers), each conversation holds a specific point that fans can relate to. His music comes from several years of playing solo acoustic shows in and around the hot spots of Miami University (Ohio). His influences are as wide ranging as vocalists such as Michael English to Blues/Rock artists such as Eric Clapton, and to alternative bands such as Sevendust. Predominantly a live performer, he is currently playing in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, and plays in the local band the Rumrunners as well, touring regionally in the Midwest. The album "Songs to Someone" is representative of his fun live shows, and also demonstrates why his music has been used in a variety of ways, including tracks for television and tracks for several corporate presentations.
