Matt Thomas was born in Baltimore Maryland where he started playing piano at the tender age of 10. His gospel roots & family values kept him grounded, never giving up his dreams while growing up in a tuff neighborhood of Baltimore. Matt grew up listing to all types of music. Jazz, classical, gospel, rock, R&B, country & blues. He began developing his skill by listening to television theme song melodies, then learning them, fulfilling his urge for achievement & challenging his musical creativity. When synthesizers were introduced in the 70's as a means of manipulating musical sounds, Matt was fascinated. He studied everything he could about the art. Following the methods of the great Quincy Jones, Dave Grusin, Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, George Duke, Jan Hammer, and Billy Preston, Matt knew then what he wanted to do with his life. After graduating from high school, he attending Peabody Conservatory of Music where he studied theory, arranging & composition as well as classical piano to help Polish his skills. Then it was time to move on. Moving to New York in 1978, Matt became one of the most sought after keyboard/synth players on the New York circuit. He quickly started writing, arranging, performing & musical directing for some of the most well known artist in the industry. Matt's undeniable talent was in demand.
