Under the Sun
Matthew's 4th CD "Under The Sun" Has familiar overtones and partials of his previous CDs. Heavy musical arrangements, songs that don't follow the same vain, and layered with some very talented musicians. Internationally known Eric DeFade's Saxophone work really complements the songs he worked on. And some smooth Background vocals from Pittsburgh's Candace Erb, Amy Withrow & Jeff Morris enhance Matt's voice on tracks 1-2-4-6. Some tasteful slide guitar work from Carnegie's Gary Prisby on tracks 5 and 7 add some haunting licks to the movement of the songs. And of coarse rock solid bass playing from well known Pittsburgh artist Kurt Lorence and Shaler's Rick Gercak (who also recorded and co-produced this CD) The songs variety of sounds are helped out by some excellent guitar work of Rick Romanelli, Steve Seel and Chuck Circo. Matt's horn section from his band Smokin' Section: Dave Stoepinski on trumpet and Greg Stegman on tenor sax along with Eric DeFade on alto sax, fill out tracks 5 and 12. Matthew's fills and arrangements are challenging to the listener, drawing from almost 40 years of playing experience and interjecting it into each song. He says there a little of this and that, even the bagpipes from Whitey on track 13.
