Meet the Strangers
The Strangers Story... In the beginning there was the Blues. Then there was Rock & Roll. Then the Beatles invaded America. In London the Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, The Animals, The Kinks, and The Who were forged from these elements. They followed up the invasion and occupied America. In response, we gathered in small groups in cellars and garages all over America. On the East coast, Michael Scherr determined that he would be a drummer. In the South, Otis Schaper learned to play guitar. On the West Coast, Ian Chames turned in his trombone for a bass guitar. In Hawaii, Robert Brey played guitar until his fingers bled. They all became professional-level musicians, formed and played in bands named Double Shot, Fresh Tracks, Man On a String and Otis & the Abusers Eventually, Michael, Otis and Ian migrated to Hawaii, each to start a new life. Ian started his own carpentry business. Otis established a Surfboard manufacturing company. Michael became a financial consultant & built a major insurance agency. Robert Brey went to Columbia, and then came home to Hawaii to work as a computer systems analyst By day, they became professional level business owners and executives but retained their passion for playing music. By night, they became... The Strangers.
