Songs of Ascent
Melanie has had involvement with the music industry in Los Angeles singing background vocals for record projects. When Melanie became a Christian, she switched to singing in the advertising industry for radio and TV, and also developed regional followings as a Christian writer and artist. She now lives in Nashville, Tennesse with her husband. Melanie's newest album incorporates her live style of layering multiple voices in harmonious melodies. This acoustic album began because of the number of requests Melanie received to record some of her live performance songs so people could have it for personal worship at home. On creating this album she says, "I have tried to give a sonic representation of being before the Lord in His throne room". Melanie was searching for a term to express her vision and passion of the Presence Concert (a single evening of worship). A friend looked in some Gaelic dictionaries and found the term Ardaigh which means 'to ascend to the throne'. Thus, the "Music of the Ardaigh" is music used in the Ardaigh events. 'I believe one of the true functions of an artist, if I may reduce us to a function for a moment, is to depict the mysteries of life in such a way that they become apprehensible for all who see or hear. Perhaps this is why every message or movement has it's own music. At the core, my message is the celebration that we are indwelt by God, and therefore, always with Him.' Melanie's record label, MGR music is an artistic expression of a Celtic-Messianic understanding of Christianity. For her personally, "her" music was the vehicle for birthing her into the Spirit, and "unblinding" her own soul. Now it is being offered because - come to find out - it is helping others do the same thing.
