The Mere are a band of brothers. We've been friends for over thirty years. Singer Marvin Close is also a professional writer having scripted shows such as Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and Tracey Beaker. Guitarist Neil Scott is an ex-member of 'Everything but the girl', 'Felt' and 'Denim'. Drummer Dr Spec has worked with everyone from Edwyn Collins to Danny La Rue. Bassist Richard 'Chas' Crossland is also a renowned oil painter. The 'one horse town' in the title of their debut CD is Hornsea a veritable oasis of creativity on the East coast of Yorkshire. This is a small seaside town of around 10,000 people that all four band members have gravitated back to after years of working all over the country and in Europe. The four all returned to their home soil and back to their spiritual home, set up their band The Mere eighteen months ago. Since then, they've played a series of live gigs around the North and Midlands, released their stunning debut album 'One horse town' on their own label Deckchair records, and are currently writing songs for and recording their as yet untitled follow up album.
