Product Notes

Four dirty bastards with four crazy songs. Psychosis with a touch of wormwood. Desperate guitars forced into musical slavery at the hands of madmen, servicing cauliflowered ears in twisty smoked dens of dee-lite. Drums and Turkish jingle bells smashed in lust and anger. Ancient groupies rise from their soap operas to once again haunt the urine stained temples of rock, bedecked in spectacular Spandex and Aquanetta, forever in search of the never ending pah-ty. Suddenly, and as if on cue, the god damned banshee shriek of feedback floods the universe like the 1919 Boston Molasses Disaster. Not to be outdone, Arch the Acid Mage zig zags the stage Jaggering out the hallowed words 'testing, testing one two three...I need whiskey...testing' into the mesmosphone, calling the faithful once more into the breach. Yes...welcome to the wonderful, wacky world of The Mesmerines. Better duck and keep one eye on the door. Four songs, four halfwits (or two fullwits with eight legs, if you prefer), four dimensions, five bucks. Coincidence? We think not. ------------------------------------------- Reviewed in the October issue of The Noise: 'At long last, a 4-song CD that hasn't been thrown together for the sake of releasing whatever the band could muster up. The Mesmerines, four veterans of the local post-punk scene of the '80s and '90s have united to record an adventurous effort-driven bouillabaisse, simply titled The Mesmerines. In just over fifteen-minutes, these songs galvanize punk, Brit-pop, psychedelic and garage. "Raygun" kicks it into gear and is reminiscent of the Cars while "Aquanetta Jones" is a cross between Social Distortion and Iggy Pop. "I am the Sunman" has a wonderfully crunchy guitar sound with tight drum and bass in tow, as does "Beautiful Day" with the addition of horns and strings. This CD has my attention and I look forward to their full-length in the future. (Rob Watts)'
