Messenger began back in 1994, forming from a persistent call of the Spirit on it's founder, Jason Lambert. The first line-up of members quickly found itself in the position of providing contemporary worship music to churches as the desire for that emerging worship style grew. Ministering to the church or the 'churched' became the focus and foundation of the ministry for the next 7 years, taking the group throughout Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois. The group built a reputation of excellence in everything they did, and it remains a priority to this day. Messenger released it's first CD entitled 'Let Him In', back in 1998 and received international airplay and a top-50 ranking on Christian charts with the song, 'I Can Do Nothing'. The group began tracking for it's sophomore release in 2000. Over the next year, some personnel changes would delay the completion of the full album, and ultimately force the rebuilding of the group. It was a time of testing and a revival of purpose for the groups' founder, but the original calling was still strong and he couldn't quit. So, as each new member came to join the group, the level of excellence, musicianship and professionalism was raised. (God's plan is perfect!) The new line-up began writing and ministering with new and old material and it was evident that God's anointing was still upon this ministry. Currently, the group has completed it's latest CD, which is scheduled for official release on April 21st, 2007. It includes updated versions of songs from the previously un-released 2001 project, and many new songs that highlight this groups passion for guitar-driven, biblically sound, rock music. It has been the goal and desire of Messenger since it's conception to present the gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that is entertaining, but more importantly, the truth of who God is and what He is capable of doing in a life that is yielded to Him. For more than a decade now, Messenger has ministered through music. This group truly strives to live out the great commission....to go and make Jesus known, to everyone! The choice of a key verse for the group came not because the passage contained the name of the band, but because it supported the direction of the ministry, and later became the foundation for it's mission and ministry statement. I Thessalonians 2:4 says, 'For we speak as messengers from God, sent by Him to tell the truth; We change His message not one bit to suit the taste of those who hear it, for we serve God alone who examines our hearts' deepest thoughts.' Although messengers of the gospel, and it's style of delivery, sometimes change, the gospel itself never changes. This group is determined that the message they bring will never change. The current members of Messenger have again raised the bar on their ministry. Focused on helping people see and believe that 'Christian music' has a higher purpose and that it's goal is not mediocrity, but excellence. This requires more from the group, but this is not a burden but an ingrained desire of each member. Messenger is committed to remaining obedient to the call of Christ, and as He has promised, He is showing His faithfulness and blessing them abundantly. Members of Messenger have had the privilege of sharing the stage with several well-known artists, including Petra, Switchfoot, 4HIM, KJ-52 and Nikki Leonti. Not only has Messenger ministered with major label artists, but some great indie artists such as Instereo, and are scheduled for a tour stop with 7th Time Down and Broken Yoke at the Cross Roads Festival this summer. Messenger finished 3rd in the 2006 Kingdom Bound International Talent search, which adds to their existing reputation as a top-notch group of musicians.
