Mike Caputo first gained attention as the guitarist for the progressive rock band Mind Sky. Their debut release 'Timewise' was very well received by the public and Mike was featured in Guitar Player magazine. Described as 'the quintessential progressive guitarist, demonstrating a command of textural elements, acoustic guitar technique, and a melodic lead style utilizing impressive legato phrasing', Mike quickly emerged as a versatile artist whose style appealed to a wide audience. 'Mosaic' is Mike's first solo release featuring all acoustic material. His acoustic style has been compared to Michael Hedges and Alex DeGrassi; one track on 'Mosaic' was written in tribute to Michael Hedges and features techniques popularized by Hedges. Having studied classical guitar for many years, Mike fuses this formal training with his own compositional style to create works that are both melodically pleasing, yet technically challenging. Fans of fingerstyle and classical guitar will be thoroughly impressed with the depth of the playing and compositional skills. Fernando Sor's 'Fantasy' is the only non-original work on the album. Mike's skill as a guitarist is reflected by his use of odd time signatures, heartfelt melodies, and technical mastery. 'Mosaic' offers listeners a variety of songs that create a larger picture, that is easy to listen to while still retaining a high caliber of musicianship.
