Strong vocals, great hooks and irresistable melodies. Michael Maxwell is a veteran guitarist of forty plus years!! He started playing guitar at nine years old and is a self-taught musician with a signature sound. Originally from the San Francisco Bay area, he has created a unique following in the East Bay area and wherever he goes, people want more!!!! Mike's music has an 80's-90's pop-rock feel to it but goes a bit beyond. He is frequently compared to artists such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Paul McCartney. Michael sings, plays guitar, guitar synthesizer, bass, drums and many other instruments. He started playing his first professional jobs at age 15 and started playing night clubs at age 17. His first studio work was at 16 years old when records were pressed on New York's now defunct MTA label. Mike has won song-writing awards from both Billboard and American Songwriting contests. Mike has recorded at some of the best recording studios around including Wally Hieder's studio in San Francisco, Golden State Recorders in San Francisco, Pacific Studios in San Mateo, Buffalo Studios in San Francisco, Tewkesbury Recording Studios in the Bay Area and L&M Studios in Germany. He has toured Vancouver, B.C., Washington, Oregon, Lake Tahoe and many other sites in California. He has toured most of the west coast and Canada opening for big names such as Heart and Roger Collins, Little Anthony and the Imperials, and has played with his own bands, Secret Weapon (NY based R&B Band... filled in for them on Bass in Brussels, Belgium and Germany), Race n' Rhythm (Bay Area R&B Band), Rear Exit (his first pro-band that released a single on the East Coast), Circuit Breaker (total variety band from the late 60s early 70s and still great friends), Lexington, Mile Hi (power rockers), Whale, Long Distance (formerly Old Gold that toured and lived in Germany) and many more. Producer, songwriter and guitar instructor, Michael co-ran a production company while living in Germany for six years. Michael plays all of the instruments and sings the vocals on his CDs as well as recording, mixing and mastering them. He stays quite busy at his home digital studio, QRS Studios. He writes and records original music as well as produces other artist's projects.
