There's something on Microdot's first record for every mood. 'Hourglass,' with it's amped-up drums and shout-along chorus, is a classic road-trip starter. 'No U-turn' showcases singer Mike Ingenthron's raw-but-gentle voice. 'How Much for the X-ray''s one-two groove is raw and sexual, while the monolithic rocker 'Map of the Ancient World' continues to draw you in as it quietly falls apart in the last minute. Microdot strives for a sound that encompasses many styles and rewards repeat listeners.
