Mimi Chen & the Blend
Mimi received her training at The Juilliard School of Music. Although her major was piano, she had a secondary major in violin and ensemble work. She has performed concerts at Steinway Hall, Lincoln Center and many universities. She toured Europe and Hong Kong and received a scholarship to study with Paul Hindemith's favorite pianist Jane Carlson at L'Ecole Hindemith in Vevey, Switzerland. Mimi, however, loves to sing. Her claim to fame is having sung the National Anthem for the A's, the Giants, the Warriors and the California Angels. To accompany her singing, Mimi picked up the guitar when she was 16 and found that she could finger-pick, much to the dismay of many of her friends who were actually trying to accomplish that skill through tons of practice. As a solo artist, she's opened for the likes of Bobby Weir, Dan Hicks and Nils Lofgren.
