Stay Beneath the Blood
Minister Kevin Barber is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. Minister Shelly Barber is a native of Panama City, Florida. Together, they have cultivated and refined their own distinct and unique sound. After Shelly's encounter at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, between life and death, she and Kevin were inspired to write, 'Stay Beneath the Blood.' In August 2002, they released their first single, entitled 'No More & Stay Beneath the Blood.' Kevin has been singing since the age of five and writing songs since the early 1980s. He has performed for ceremonial events at the Blacks in Government (BIG) Pentagon Chapel, Food and Drug Administration CEDAR Awards, the Miss Maryland Beauty Pageant and the State Department. Kevin has also performed as a guest artist for the Heaven 600 Praise Fests, Gospel Crab Feast, and Single Fellowship, Mary Weather Post Pavilion, Lyric Opera House and TCI Cable Channel 42 - Vision Outreach Ministry. Kevin has also ministered at numerous weddings and funerals in and around Maryland and District of Columbia areas. Kevin attended Zoë Psalmist School under the direction of Elder Rona Matthews, received classical training under the tutelage of Dr. Joseph Eubanks at Morgan State University, and studied musical theory and voice ensemble at the New Shiloh School of Music under the direction of Nathan Carter. Shelly has been singing since the age of nine and began writing songs in 1990. In 1998, she debuted her first single CD entitled 'Matchless God' and released her first Christmas single entitle 'His Name' in 1999. She has performed as a Composer at the Rejoice 2000/R2K Gospel Music Workshop. Worship Clinician with the Gospel Choirs of Bolling Air Force Base and Fort Myers Army Base under the direction of Dr. Howard Patton, and appeared at the Kennedy Center with the Bolling Air Force Base Gospel Choir. Shelly has also appeared as a guest artist for the Black in Government Pentagon Chapel, and, a guest artist at the Heaven 600 Praise Fests. She has opened services for renowned women of God, such as, Prophetess Juanita Bynum, Doctors Iona Locke, Jackie McCullough and Carolyn Showell. Shelly has been the guest artist for various women's conferences nationwide. From this team ministry, it our desire that through the Holy Spirit these songs will be an encouragement to you, edify the true belivers, and most importantly, be a drawing force to the unsaved.
