Not since the legendary Jethro Tull has a musician cleverly parleyed classical flute training into a successful career as a pop artist. Well, prepare to hand over the crown, Ian Anderson, as your successor has arrived, and she goes by the name, Monica Attell. Initially trained at the renowned Boston Conservatory, ATTELL started her music career by earning a Master's Degree in performance on the flute. Unsatisfied with jazz gigs and performing with various jam bands, ATTELL decided to set out on her own. She immediately found herself fronting the power-punk band, Zeta Bane. Driven by her vocal versatility and charismatic stage performance, the group began making waves immediately, and they found themselves opening for acts such as Berlin, David Johanssen, Wakefield, and performing on Comedy Central with Monica's brother, comedian David Attell. Zeta Bane placed second at the "Sony Indie Rock Showcase," and received rave reviews at the Dunkin Donuts Rockin' Garage competition. Despite the success of Zeta Bane, ATTELL eventually decided to go it alone, and she formed her own group. Monica Attell'S band consists of Monica on lead vocals, flute, and piano, Ryan Parrino on guitar, Todd Budich, on drums, and Brian Anderson of the hugely successful trio "Raisinhill on bass. With influences including Pat Benatar, Amel Larrieux, Aretha Franklin, The Roots, Motley Crue, Neil Young, the Muppets, AND Ben Folds, Monica Attell creates intelligently quirky pop music that is simultaneously unique and memorable. Fueled by her beliefs on society and the injustices in the world, her lyrics are both insightful and humorous. Her first CD, "Band Geek," put the group on the map with a feature segment on The Radar Report on XM Satellite 43 and landed them primo gigs such as performing in front of the Stratosphere at the Las Vegas "First Friday" celebration, the Block Island Music Festival, and the Litchfield Wine Festival. Monica was showcased and interviewed by THE APPRENTICE host Erika Ventrini on NYC TV's "Gigs" program. Monica's single "Cyberspace Angel," was featured on "OUT OF THE BOX WITH JONATHAN CLARKE," on Q104.3FM (major New York market radio). ATTELL is heating up the internet on Artist First World Radio, Band House Live, and her CD "BAND GEEK," was nominated for Album of the year by Kweevak Music Magazine. With a new LP entitled, " My Bully,\' plan on hearing more from this distinctive songstress.
