Product Notes

Morgan Lindsey has developed an extraordinary vocal style and range at a remarkably young age. Morgan has become active in the musical scene in the DFW Metroplex. Her musical accomplishments are both varied and impressive. Morgan is blessed with a purity of tone and possesses vocal control that is unmatched. Her vocal power and emotional directness were clearly developed during her early experience with gospel music. As a jazz singer, she takes standard material and makes it her own. She is very willing to take musical risks, but always remains true to the lyrics and the emotional content of the song. Morgan's vocal ability is matched by her skill as a composer. Her original compositions are both insightful and lyrical. She is much more than a young vocalist with potential. Morgan is already a polished artist who has a rare talent of communicating with an audience. She has recently performed with pianist Steve Bourgeois at Kalamatas Restaurant in the Renaissance Worthington Hotel in Fort Worth and at Kirby's Steakhouse in Southlake, Texas. They also performed at the 2004 Arbor Day Festival in Westlake. Morgan performed with God's Property at the Gospel Music Association Convention in Minneapolis in 2001. She has been a soloist at the Northwest Independent School District Annual Convocation and Shining Stars Gala from 2001 to 2004. She has also performed at Six Flags in Arlington, the Potter's House, Johnny High's Music Review, Grapevine Opry, Mayfest, Amon Carter Museum, and at the Ball Park in Arlington. She has completed four recording sessions. In 2006, she recorded "Lead Me to Your Truth" with pianist Steven Bourgeois at Patrick McGuire Recording in Arlington, Texas. In 2004, she recorded "Hide Every Trace of Sadness" and "Symbiotic Groove." Her initial recording session was a CD of original material at Audio Dallas in 2001. This effort resulted in contract negotiations with Sony Records. Pianist Steven Bourgeois has developed a lyrical touch that is unique in the jazz world. He has taken the 'dolce' touch developed from years of performing Mozart, and incorporated it into his jazz playing. His style combines melodic clarity with abundant inner voices that add depth and lyricism to his music. His improvisations could be described as minimalist, in that they quickly get to the heart of the matter and communicate emotions honestly. Steven trained as a classical pianist. He made the slow transition to jazz during his college years. His early jazz influences include Oscar Peterson, Andre Previn, and most significantly, his father, Jim Bourgeois, who is also a jazz pianist. In recent years, Steve has been inspired by the solo improvisations of Keith Jarrett. Steven Bourgeois is a jazz pianist based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He performs solo piano regularly at many of the prominent hotels and restaurants in that area, including the Renaissance Worthington Hotel, the Omni Mandalay Hotel, the Fairmont Hotel, La Cima Club, the Petroleum Club, and the City Club. He has recorded three solo piano CDs, including 'I Could Write a Book' (2000), 'Out of the Darkness' (2004), and Presence' (2005). His ensemble recordings include "Lead Me to Your Truth" (2006), 'Symbiotic Groove' (2004) and 'Hide Every Trace of Sadness' (2004) with vocalist Morgan Bierlein, 'Jazz Duo' (2004) with bassist Wyeth Tvenge, and 'It Could Happen' (2005) with vocalist Cyndy Duerfeldt and pianist Jim Bourgeois.
