Don't just expect to sit back and listen to NINO, be prepared to change! Nino is a Native American, master flute player, and international lecturer on Native topics. Nino grew up in the Uintah Basin in North Eastern Utah and attended an Indian Boarding School in Riverside, California. He is a former U.S. Marine with a master's degree in social work where he contributes his talents in the substance abuse profession and healing people through Native workshops. He has reached the top of two very different worlds by living in two different worlds. He brings to the platform a message that binds, forges and moves attitudes, which makes him one of our most powerful motivational speakers and Native American entertainers to hit the platform in a long time. The haunting sounds of an American Indian flute never had been heard before by most in the international television audience watching the Opening Ceremony of the 2002 Winter Games. Now, flutist Nino Reyos says the performers made history. 'This is the first time Native Americans have had such a large presence in Olympic events.' Nino, one of the highlighted flute players for the Opening Ceremonies, has recently released his third CD. His interest in the flute was piqued when he was given one as part of a dance-circle initiation. 'Playing the flute comes from the inside,' Nino says. 'I start to play and the music comes from where I am, what I am thinking about.' As an international flute player who has traveled to such recent places as Sweden, Indian Summer Fest in Milwaukee, and the Teen Institute in Gambier, Ohio. Nino dedicates his talent and time to elevate the native culture through his music. Nino's latest CD 'The Songs Remember' has recently won a International Telly Award for music video of the year, been nominated for the 2004 Native American Music Award, received four first round Grammy selections, and nominated for an American Independent Award. He is also a Grammy voting Member. Nino has recently performed at the 2007 Winter Game Deaflympics Opening Ceremonies where he had gained a greater appreciation of the unique communication needs of this population. Members of the Organizing Commitee had since commented that the Ceremonies 'surpassed Expectations,' and many say 'it's the best Opening Ceremonies they have ever seen.' Nino often teaches workshops on the Native American flute for various age groups and organizations.
