This album just kind of came together. I really wasn't sure I'd still be able to write in the same ways I had before, at least not in volume, but I've found a great deal of inspiration in the suburban family-hood that is my life these days. While we worked on songs for our next CD collection, which we expect will be out sometime in early 2007, I began to notice a group of songs with themes that seemed to work well together, and which had the potential to stand on their own. It is becoming harder and harder to find the time to write the songs and to bring them to completion, and I'm grateful to my wife and family, the individual band members and their spouses and significant others, for their support as we pushed through to write, record and finalize this collection. I especially enjoyed penning songs that I could set aside as a gift to our children, along with some confessional diatribes concerning how to endure life in it's phases, how to laugh at ourselves a bit, etc... as well as exploring some varying styles, such as acoustic slide blues, a hint of jazz, modern folk, and a rocker or two as proof that we're still not too old to remember how to do it. In addition, we have taken the liberty of revisiting a couple of our staple songs from my solo effort, entitled Love, Hope and Story Songs, way back before North-Northwest was born. There have now been six NNW collections since 1998. We've gone through a number of personnel changes, and we've added some really good and dedicated people. I am forever grateful to those out there who enjoy what we have been doing, and we encourage you to spread the word. Let someone you know in on the secret. The good thing about being independent is the freedom we have to write and record the types of songs we want. We put more selections on one CD than you'll ever get commercially, all for a better price. If you enjoy our music, let us know. Buy someone a one dollar download of an NNW song. Better yet, let him/her go on to CDBaby.com, listen to the songs and choose a CD for him/herself. If you let us know about your help in our promotion, we will provide you with a free CD of your choice. Happy listening! Frank McGoldrick.
